All-in marginal cost (what an extra kWh actually costs you)

Indicatively: €0.24 – €0.28 / kWh

This is the figure to use in your own savings calculations for solar, heat pump or LED upgrades — not the "energy charge" alone.

Historical comparison

Period

Energy charge (€/kWh)

All-in with fuel adjustment and VAT

2024 (average)

~€0.16

€0.28–0.33

2025 (average)

~€0.17

€0.25–0.30

May 2026

€0.1789

€0.24–0.28

Prices have softened since the 2022–2023 peak, mainly because of fuel-cost stabilisation and the VAT cut from 19% to 9% on electricity.

How the fuel adjustment is computed

EAC publishes a monthly coefficient reflecting the gap between the actual fuel cost and a fixed €600/tonne baseline. The adjustment can be positive (surcharge) or negative (discount) — see the official Fuel Adjustment page.

What this price means for your decisions

  • Solar PV: at €0.26/kWh average all-in, every self-consumed kWh saves you 26 cents. On a 5 kWp system with 4,500 kWh annual self-consumption, that's ~€1,170/year.

  • Heat pump: at COP 3.5 in Cyprus conditions, you produce 3.5 kWh thermal per 1 kWh electrical — i.e. ~€0.07/kWh thermal. Versus oil at ~€0.12–0.15/kWh thermal: ~50% lower running cost.

  • LED retrofit: replacing a 100W bulb with a 10W LED running 3 hours/day saves 99 kWh/year × €0.26 = ~€26 per bulb per year.
